2. Price the job before you call

Use the cost calculator. Enter your size, material grade and city. You get a low-to-high band you can hold a quote against.

3. Decide whether fixing it is worth it

Use the repair-or-replace test. Two numbers and the age of the unit. This is where people save the most money, and it takes about ninety seconds.
